Math 414 is University of Washington's undergraduate number theory course. The main ideas of the course are prime numbers, arithmetic modulo n, public-key cryptosystems, continued fractions, and elliptic curves.

Textbooks

The primary text is this book that I wrote. It is freely available to students in the course. (Important: If you buy the book in any way, e.g., on Amazon.com, please let me know so that I can donate the corresponding royalties to a charity, as required by state law.)
We will also look at this free book on the Riemann Hypothesis.
Another excellent (but shamefully expensive!) book to consult is Niven, Zuckerman, and Montgomery: An Introduction to the Theory of Numbers.
There are tons of other excellent books on ``elementary number theory'', e.g., in the library. Find and read them.
